The National NHS Commissioning Board introduced Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs) in order to focus on coordinating patient pathways between providers over a wide area, ensuring access to specialist support and expertise. A number of ODNs have been established across England.
In July 2014 a Commissioning Stakeholders meeting took place requesting proposals to host Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs) for Cardiac, Critical Care and Neurosciences across the Thames Valley and Wessex regions. The Children’s Hospitals Network (CHN) were nominated by stakeholders, negotiations ensued and we have now implemented the ODNs.
ODNs will be more inclusive of the 20 District General Hospitals that work with us and will improve pathways of care for patients and their families.
ODNs can ensure that all the systems work together to optimise the patient experience by bringing together patients and their families, hospitals, commissioners and other stakeholders in the design and delivery of consistent high quality services.
